APS Observer

In her inaugural presidential column in the Observer, new APS President Jennifer Eberhardt explores psychological science’s great potential for real-world impact with SPARQ Co-Director Hazel Rose Markus and Managing Director MarYam Hamedani. Reflecting on our Faculty Affiliate Lee Ross’s passing and the current state of the field, our SPARQ directors encourage researchers to step beyond the basic/applied binary and bring more of the world into our science. They highlight the benefits of research-practice partnerships and note the critical necessity of forging relationships with practitioners and community members to address society’s most pressing needs.
