Markus Receives 2026 Sage-CASBS Award

Co-Director Hazel Markus has received the 2026 Sage Publishing-Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) Award.

Congratulations to Co-Director Dr. Hazel Markus for receiving the 2026 Sage Publishing-Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) Award! The Sage-CASBS Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the behavioral and social sciences that advance our understanding of pressing social issues.

As the tenth recipient of the Sage-CASBS Award, Markus is recognized for her research on self, identity, and agency, and how they provide meaning and structure to people’s daily lives. Her work across different problem areas—including education, health, climate, and policing—has highlighted ways in which cultural contexts and psychological processes constitute each other.
