Our Work

Main content start

At SPARQ, we take a systemic, data-driven, iterative approach that leverages the latest social science methods, technical expertise, and tools. Whether we are working with those in police departments, courtrooms, companies, schools, hospitals, or film studios, we co-design strategies and solutions with practitioners that are tailored to the problem and the context. We strive to produce both actionable insights and high-quality research. We believe that getting proximate is necessary.

SPARQ's activities include:

  • Designing partnership-driven projects: We collaborate closely with practitioners to conduct research to diagnose problems, identify levers for change, and test strategies and solutions in the spaces in which they work to make change.
  • Developing tools for practitioners and researchers: We develop tools (e.g., digital toolkits, code for computational models) to translate and disseminate evidence-based approaches to change.
  • Educating and training students and researchers: We train practitioners and researchers, educate students and postdoctoral scholars on campus, and hold interactive research clinics to bridge research and practice.
  • Sharing insights and solutions with stakeholders: We give talks, host workshops, write about our work in academic and practitioner-facing outlets, publish reports, and more.
